Hey Peter,

It surprises me too, and it's definitely an interesting phenomenon. I think part of it has to do with the commonality of people taking art so seriously, when in fact, it's often more a matter of taste than opinion.

Definitely stop by the opening at SOIl on Thursday and say hi!

It always surprises me to see that kind of response, but I guess I've seen it enough that I shouldn't.

Some people seem to need art to be a pretty painting on a wall.

They get angry if it's ugly, forgetting that the masters they adore often painted war and ugliness contemporary to their times..

They get angry if it's not a painting or another pre-approved form, forgetting that the entire human made world is largely shaped by artists of one sort or another.

I'm looking forward to seeing you and your work in Seattle. Have a nice day!

I think it would be funny if grass grew enough to sprout out of the "armpit" of this piece. Maybe the idea is a bit juvenile, but it made me giggle.

My ideas got onto the hubcap wall too - I was talking to mom while she was writing (probably before or after that picture). It made me laugh to see that photo on the blog and to know that in a far-off way I was part of it too.

I like the new photos, looks like the camera is treating you well. Hopefully you get into the Austin program so that I can hang out with you more often.
