Team Wolf

Yesterday I had a great studio visit with Zachary Cahill, who writes for Art Forum and works with the Open Practice Committee at the University of Chicago. It was another small-art-world coincidence that I met him in 2009 when I went to visit the graduate program at UC (the first small-art-world coincidence I had here at Ox-Bow is that Carol Lung, who is currently teaching a class titled ‘Sewn Strategies,’ had her booth set up across from my desert island at the Joshua Tree Music Festival). Yesterday evening was also my MFA Project Residency presentation, which I delivered in my newly-thrifted, bright-orange swim suit.

Today before lunch they posted the team roster for the 2011 Ox-Bow In-Your-Face Volleyball classic. Team Wolf is going to dominate:

The socially-oriented work that I am completing for my residency is tentatively titled “The Distance Between Two Coconuts,” and I’m going to try and have the transmitters up and running in order to broadcast the announcements for tomorrow’s tournament via coconut radio. Hopefully that will only take a few hours this afternoon, because I also have to prepare for tonights dance party, which is themed “Freshmen 15.”
